currently obsessed / fancy fur

fur has been on my radar for the past few years, and it doesn't seem to be fading. i have loved my fur coats, vests, and scarves, and keep adding to my collection. this weekend i discovered some awesome and cheap faux fur options at h and m, and had to indulge myself in getting one. here are a few of my favorites from around the web:

1. i'm calling this one the 'colorfur'. i have never seen anything more perfect. just don't look at the price. get it here.

2.  this is a much cheaper option from h&m (only $30!). i love that it is a kind of sweatshirt style glamified with grey fur. get it here.

3. the 'rochelle' fur coat from anthro adds an interesting twist with a striped shaggy fur. get it here

4.  a fur vest in my favorite color? yes please! get it here.

this is the jacket i got from h&m. it is super cozy and perfect for fall days. i love that it is a little different than my other fur items, which are mostly brown. i plan to wear this a ton this winter!

get it here.

fashion / summer staples to fall favorites #2

Summer to Fall #2.jpg

i wear dresses more than anything else, which is great in the summer, but come fall and winter i am generally freezing all the time. to shift this dress in to fall, i added an olive blazer which warmed me up and made my palette super autumnal. i got my heels this summer at the rack (of course), and they were by far my favorite summer heels. i don't want to not wear them for the next six months because i love them too much, so i added some coral socks to make them look and feel more seasonal. i added my gold bangles, my olive alexis bittar bangle, and my tortoise michael kors watch. underneath the dress is a black and white striped shirt, instead of the white shirt that i normally pair it with. this outfit is perfect for those fall days that have a cool chill in the morning air, but warm up in the afternoons.

fashion / summer staples to fall favorites

while i feel like it should be fall right now- the weather is telling me differently. this past weekend we have had a major heat wave in dc, so i have been limited in what fall items i can wear. i have been thinking about how i can turn my favorite summer clothes into fall ones, without having to splurge on more clothes. i have come up with three easy ways to do so: first, change your palette, then add fall accessories, and finally, change your shoes.

Summer to Fall 1

anyone who has seen me in the last six months has probably seen me wearing this skirt. it is the most comfortable thing that i own. in the summer i generally wore it with a white or mint shirt, gold bangles, and my trusty sam edelman sandals. since it is now october, i wanted to change things up, but not die of heat and humidity. i added a grey tee that helped to tone down the brightness of the skirt. i went for gunmetal earrings (similar here) and watch (similar here), and added my new madewell purse. i think the shoes were the kicker on this outfit though- they really brought the whole thing home. the snakeskin combined with the black patent scream fall. i snatched them up at the rack a few weeks ago! i mainly love this outfit because it is comfortable and easy breezy.

i need your help! / coat vote

i went shopping for a winter coat yesterday and found a goldmine. zara literally has hundreds of amazing coats. i want all of them. considering that i'm only going to have a few months of winter this year, i have limited myself to buying only one new jacket. i am so sick of all of my old coats i didn't even bring any, but i will probably have to have my mother-in-law ship me one or two, i'm gonna need more than one coat.

there are three main contenders that i found at zara. they are all the same color scheme, a greenish/brown with black accents. they are also super warm. i have never had a really warm coat, they have all been california warm. i'm thinking i'm going to need something pretty heavy duty, especially because we are going on a road trip of the northwest in december. it's going to be freezing but so much fun!

contender #1:

i love the leather sleeves. also, this coat has a removable fur lining so i can make it warmer or colder depending on what i want. the price is pretty reasonable when compared to other coats that are similar.

contender #2:

i think this coat looks very chic, but casual enough for every day. i love the leather trim, gold hardware, and quilted sleeves. this coat also has a removable liner, so convenient!

contender #3:

i love the leather sleeves and puffy coziness of this coat. it would probably be the most comfortable. it is a little cheaper than the other two. my one reservation is the bag of the coat- it is a knit fabric which i think i a little weird, but i'm willing to get past it.

inspiration / fall prints

i officially declared it to be fall last tuesday. there was a sudden chill in the air, and i saw the first leaves start falling. i may have been a bit preemptive, i was sweating in 80 degree weather wearing a sweater this weekend, but i have absolutely been loving trying to put together fall looks. my favorite fall trend has been mixing print on prints on prints. it's all i want to do. i feel like i need to go out and buy more printed shirts just so i can do so. i have been toying around with doing a fashion column on my blog, but can't decide if i am vain enough to do it. anyways, here are some looks that have been inspiring my fall outfits.
